Our Organisation
The Palestine Humanitarian Response Center (PHRC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and supporting the most vulnerable, especially children, amid the severe violence and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Headquartered in the Netherlands, the PHRC brings trauma relief activities and mental health support to children affected by genocide.
The Mission of the PHRC
The PHRC is a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands, founded by Awni Farhat with the mission to protect children and create hope amidst the ongoing severe violence. The organization focuses on trauma relief, emotional healing, and fostering resilience among children affected by war and displacement. The genocide is leaving deep emotional scars on the children, and through interactive games and therapeutic activities, the PHRC offers a safe space for them to release emotions, process trauma, and begin healing.
The Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza
The current situation in Gaza is more severe than any previous escalation of violence. The official death toll continues to rise, with a significant portion of the deceased being children. Tens of thousands of people have been injured, leaving countless families and communities in deep distress and need.
Israel has been systematically destroying hospitals, ambulances, schools, mosques, universities and churches, while blocking vital resources such as water, food, medical supplies, electricity, and fuel. Humanitarian assistance has been severely restricted, leaving the civilian population in desperate need of help.
This war is a war on children. It is the future generations that are the most affected by the genocidal aggression, which has displaced hundreds of thousands of them, killed more than 14,000 and left many more buried under the rubble.
“The situation in the Gaza Strip is a catastrophe, and your action is urgently needed.”
Employment and Economic Support
The PHRC project has also provided employment and income for 18 individuals, offering them a lifeline amidst the collapse of Gaza’s economy. These opportunities have been crucial in alleviating some of the financial burdens on families facing immense hardship.
Use of Funds
Funds raised through the PHRC have been directed towards implementing play and cultural activities for displaced children in Gaza. Initially, the funds were also used to purchases medical supplies and other essential items for those in need, though the focus has since shifted primarily to emotional and psychological support for the children.
The Urgency of Action
Civilians in Gaza are being indiscriminately targeted, with entire families being wiped out. Hospitals are running out of essential medical supplies, and children are among the most affected by the violence.
The PHRC emphasizes the urgency of taking action to protect the children and families of Gaza, regardless of the cost, to prevent further suffering.
