S’ALA S’Empatia Award

S-ala is an organisation based in Sassari (Sardegna, Italy) which focuses on performing arts. It gives out a yearly prize to artists and projects for their work, in particular linked to artistic work related to community and building a sense of social improvement. The prize is called PREMIO S’EMPATIA, and it consists of a ceremony and a financial contribution.

As they have been thinking about the Palestinian people, they decided to give this year's award to the Palestine Humanitarian Response Campaign "because of the use of art, performance, music and play as a way to find precious relief during such an oppressive, scary, traumatic and unjust time for Palestinian kids and beings, and for humans living in the world in general."

"It is just incredibly dark and PHRC’s work looks so bright, so unique and so needed."

"We believe that it is more than important, perhaps necessary, to contribute to the cause, to show up, show solidarity and help in our small ways during this horrendous and atrocious humanitarian failure," said s-ala.

"The prize means to be able to celebrate, support and promote the work of artists in relation to communities, and the PHRC is right now an incredibly worthy example of that.

We also really and truly appreciate the way you connect to and use the word relief linked to your work; it is a very important and needed word and, even in completely different circumstances, we also relate and long for a sense of relief and human connection through our artistic practice, contextualised in an incredibly demanding, violent and oppressive world."
